A Little Less Wisdom

Hey guys! I hope that all is well! This is going to be a very short post because I only have one picture to show you. I just got home from having one of my wisdom teeth extracted. I was experiencing pain last week and my dentist told me that I should have it removed and that happened today, so we'll see where that takes me. It's kind of a bummer that it happened right before the holidays but I guess we'll see where I am in a few days.

Anyway, I was all excited about this salad when I made it (last week) because it looked beautiful and it was so delicious.

It had romaine and field mix, carrots, tomatoes and corn and I added croutons to it later. I used the Just Ranch as a dressing and it was delicious. One of my favorite meals lately and when I'm feeling crazy I'll add some Chickenless Tenders from Trader Joe's :)

Sadly that's all I have for you today. I don't know if I'll bother with another post this week since it will all be very boring. However, I will be fur baby sitting starting Sunday night so I'm hoping next week will be far more interesting and I'll post about that. I could totally use some puppy and kitty cuddles.

I hope that you are all doing well! If I don't post until next week I hope you all have an amazing holiday!! <3

My Orlando Vacation!

Hey guys! I'm back from Florida and excited to share the pictures I have with you. I didn't photograph a ton of food but I did get a few pics of some drool worthy meals to share. I also have some pictures of a few things that we ended up doing. We mostly had a really mellow, relaxing staycation and it was just really nice to get to hang out with my best friend again.

My flight took off 45 minutes late heading out there (and an hour late coming back) so this is the beautiful sunset picture I got while we were sitting on the runway.

And this is the even more beautiful sunset picture I got in the air. Sadly it didn't do the real thing justice, it was AMAZING.

The first day I was there we ran a bunch of errands. One place I specifically wanted to go to was a store called Chamberlin's Natural Food Market. They have TONS of amazing vegan products as well as vitamins and supplements and a smoothie/juice bar. It's not all vegan but they have a huge vegan presence for sure. Anyway, I photographed my haul. I loaded up on the Thai Peanut flavored Primal Strips vegan jerky because it is the only flavor I like and I can NEVER find it near me. I also got some Cinnamon Apple Spice herbal tea, some Vitamin D supplements and he got some chocolate that I decided to share in this haul :)

On Saturday we went to the Farmers Market in the morning (sorry no pics) and then we walked over to Ethos Vegan Kitchen for brunch. I got my favorite meal which is the breakfast burrito (so freaking good!) and a fruit cup on the side.

I photographed my friend's brunch as well and he got tofu scramble with oatmeal (the little cup in the back is brown sugar for the oatmeal) and a fruit cup.

On Sunday we made brunch at home and we had avocado toast, peanut butter toast (banana on mine) and some fruit on the side.

We decorated his Christmas tree while watching Pitch Perfect which is one of my favorite movies ever.

Here is the finished tree. He is clearly a big fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I LOVE this gorgeous cat ornament. It was my favorite.

On Sunday it was football day and I didn't really care about the game but I did enjoy this amazing Woodchuck Amber Hard Cider. I hate beer but I do enjoy cider so it was really yummy.

And here is a picture of this adorable fur baby! He is so sweet and loves eating my hair, ha!

I didn't photograph it but it is now tradition to have a game night with some friends when I come down to visit so we all got together on Saturday night to play Cards Against Humanity. It was so fun and I'm proud (or maybe not so proud) to have gotten second place by a close margin, ha! The whole point of the game is to be as vile and inappropriate as possible and it is just hilarious and a really fun time. We also played the Seinfeld Scene It game on Sunday and I was the proud winner of that :) I'm just a wee bit competitive, ha!

So that was my trip! I hope you all liked the pictures. I wish I would have gotten more but I was feeling really lazy and trying to be in the moment. I hope you all had a great weekend!

Happy Holidays!!

Hey you guys! Greetings from Sunny Florida :) I'm just popping in quickly to show you some of the cute holiday portraits we took this year.

I think this was for her Texas family :)

She was so good for the pictures this year and they came out pretty well I think! I hope you enjoyed them!

I'll be house sitting for my brother in a few weeks so hopefully I'll get some good fur baby pictures for you. It'll be the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve/Day.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend! I'll be back next week with a recap of my Florida trip!

A Few Things

Hey guys! I hope that all is well and that you had a good weekend! I'm getting ready to head out to Florida on Thursday and I'm really excited about it. I'm kind of burned out and a little escape from the cold will be a really welcome change. I've popped in today to show you a few random pictures I've collected over the past few days.

I have been on a major avocado toast kick lately. Definitely one of my favorite meals by far, especially on this whole grain bread. So good.

I finally tried the Gingerbread Oat Bars from Trader Joe's. I still feel like I'm missing something in the ingredients and it's not supposed to be vegan but every time I check it looks fine! Anyway, it is really good! It has a nice kick of spice to it and it really great. Definitely a good find.

My mom and I decided to head over to the vegan bakery here (Sweet to Lick) because I had seen something on Instagram that I wanted to pick up!

I had gotten these Swiss Rolls for my birthday a few years ago and I have NEVER been able to get them again since then! They always sell out so quickly and I just don't go enough to catch them in stock. I finally did this time and my mom and I each decided to get a regular one and a festive holiday peppermint one. These things are so good guys. I also got a funfetti scone because… well it's funfetti. You know how I feel about sprinkles and sparkles (M. that one was for you, ha!).

Finally, I tried to have some self control on Black Friday but I could not pass this deal up. I love Zoya nail polish because it is cruelty free/vegan and also Big 5 Free (they do not use 5 of the most toxic chemicals found in many other brands of nail polish). These beauties are expensive though at $10 a bottle so it is definitely a rare occasion for me to splurge on these. For Black Friday these were 70% off and for $3 a bottle I had to go for it. From left to right the shades are Dillon (I'm wearing this one now and it is GORGEOUS), Alice, Cosmo (not what I was expecting but glitter is still always good), Hudson and Rayne. Honestly, I wish I had gotten more!!

So that's what I have for you today! I hope that you are all doing great. I took Delilah's holiday pictures over the weekend and will post a few for you to check out over the weekend while I'm away!! I'll also do my best to document my trip with photos :)

Enjoy the rest of your week <3

Getting Back In The Groove

Hey guys! I hope all is well. It is raining out right now and cold and gross. One of those days you just wish you could stay in bed and be a lazy ass. But alas there is no rest for the weary. I'm here today with  a grocery haul, a staple meal and a little bit of a victory.

I went to Trader Joe's yesterday morning and grabbed a few staple items. I got two bags of the chickenless strips because it doesn't hurt to have extra I guess. I also got romaine, a cucumber, some potatoes, an avocado, shredded and baby carrots, grape tomatoes, and some soft Gingerbread Oat Bars (!!!) that appear to be vegan from the ingredients (I hope I didn't overlook anything).

I also picked up some hummus from the Mediterranean store and stuffed grape leaves from a different grocery store… because obviously we have to go to 600 stores to get a week's worth of groceries, ha! These stuffed grape leaves are actually really good though so I don't mind the extra trip.

It's fitting that my first meal that I'm posting here is a staple meal of mine. This is lunch for today. I'm hoping to photograph a few more meals to post later in the week for you.

If you read my last blog over at nerdyonlongisland.blogspot.com you'll know I had a little bit of fail trying to sell jewelry at a street fair. For those of you that didn't see that I basically had my display taken out by someone else's unweighted tent before the fair even started. I lost a lot of stock, part of my display broke and the chains were tangled and knotted. I tucked my tail between my legs, shed quite a few tears and left. After that I basically had no desire to do any more fairs and was stuck with tons of jewelry.

About two weeks ago I received an e-mail from the organization that put on the street fair about an INDOOR Holiday Craft and Gift Fair being held on November 27. I decided that I was just going to do it and sent in my table fee and was set to participate. Last Sunday I packed up my car at 7:30 am and headed over. I had to make a few changes to accommodate the smaller space but I'm so happy with how my table looked (considering that part of my original display broke)

It wasn't extravagant but it looked nice. I was so happy with it. And most importantly I was really proud of myself. I don't exactly have a ton of confidence in myself and my abilities (which is something I'm working on) and the disaster from last time knocked the wind out of me. I still picked myself up and did it and I'm really glad I did. The fair wasn't really all that successful business wise and none of the vendors had a great day in terms of sales but it was a really big first step.

So there you have it! I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend. I am really excited because next week (Thursday) I will be heading to Florida to visit my friend. I really need this vacation after the busy wedding season. I'm a bit burned out and I am excited to have a few days of fun with my friend. I will be posting before then but I will also try my best to document what I can while I'm there!

Thank you all so much again for coming over here with me. I really appreciate you! <3

Starting Over

Hey guys! Welcome to my new space! I hope that you are all doing well. If you have joined me from my last blog I just want to say thank you so much. I know that I have moved around a few times but I really appreciate you sticking with me. Hopefully this will be the last move. If you have just found me then welcome! Thank you for checking out this blog and I hope that you enjoy it!

As I promised I'm going to start off by showing you a few pictures of Delilah (my niece for those of you that are new here) and a silly picture of TJ.

She just celebrated her 6th birthday! Can you believe how big she has gotten?! She is still so fun :) Here she is at her best friend's 6th birthday party (they are a week apart. I am 5 days older than my best friend, I think it's funny how that tends to work out!).

She was woken up at 5:00 am on Thanksgiving and surprised with a ride into the city to go to the Thanksgiving Day Parade! I was not there (photo courtesy of my brother) but she had a great time waving to everyone!

And TJ is still being goofy TJ. His new thing is to just plop himself wherever he wants. He decided to curl up on my sweatshirt that had fallen on the floor on Halloween and remained parked there for quite a while. I'll be fur babysitting a few times over the next few months so you can definitely expect some more fur baby love!

I have been enjoying some delicious vegan meals and am looking forward to sharing them with you! I don't really have an idea of a posting "schedule" yet and I'm thinking for now it is best to try to stick to a twice a week schedule. I'll be back soon to share some delicious vegan meals :)

Thanks again for sticking with me! You all mean so much to me and I'm so grateful for you!
