Whole Foods Haul & Bonus Meals

Hey everyone! I hope you enjoyed your weekend and that your Monday went well. My weekend flew by as usual. I'm back with another haul, this time from Whole Foods. I rarely go to Whole Foods now but since the prices will apparently be dropping a bit maybe I'll see myself over there a little more often! I had one thing on my list (which of course they didn't have - the new Kite Hill Greek Yogurt) but of course I still left with stuff. Here is my haul.

So I thought I had grabbed a large Silk Soy Creamer but apparently I grabbed protein soy milk. That's kind of a bummer. I didn't even realize that until right now. I grabbed Chocolate Almond Breeze for smoothies (because why not), Kite Hill strawberry banana yogurt tubes (strawberry banana is my favorite yogurt flavor), Dolma of course and some Popcorn Soy Nuggets.

I also grabbed some Maca Powder to try in smoothies, cotton candy grapes (SO WEIRD!!), tofutti, Justin's PB Cups (bc reasons) and of course my beloved primal strips.

My Whole Foods is right next to a Starbucks and I grabbed a lightly sweetened passion tea lemonade to try and it was really good! I love that color.

I decided to be all frugal and re-use the Starbucks cup for my smoothie this morning. This is a peanut butter banana smoothie and here's what's in it: 3 bananas, 1.25 cups Chocolate Almond Milk, 1 heaping TBSP of Peanut Butter, cinnamon and 1 tsp of Maca Powder. It's so good but also really filling. I'm about a third of the way down and so full so I'll be sipping it all morning.

If I am hungry for lunch I made this bento box with Dolma, tomatoes, lots of carrots and some of the grapes. I can't find the white container  that goes in my bento for now so I had to use this dressing cup for my hummus.

That's all for today! I'll be back Friday with a Fun Friday post! Have a great week!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE those Cotton Candy Grapes! They are hard to find here. I did just see them but was in a hurry and didn't grab them while I should have.

LOVED seeing your finds! Believe it or not I still haven't had those Justin Cups yet!!!

God, how I love your posts! "Because why not" and "Because reasons" should be trademarked and put on t-shirts. You crack me up, girl. Curious about the protein Silk. Did you read about that young woman who died from too much protein? She overdid it with protein powder supplements & developed urea cycle disorder. When I hear that whole "where do you get your protein?" speech, I tell them to research the net about how too much animal protein wreaks havoc on your kidneys & how obsessed everyone is about getting enough when we really don't need as much as we think. I tried those cotton candy grapes, shockingly I found they do not taste like cotton candy as claimed but still tasted okay. I just read about a new apple called the Rave; a cross between a honey crisp and something called a MonArk apple (out of Arkansas?). Sweet yet a little tart. I'm all in with new fruits & veggies :)

Oooh, I love those cotton candy grapes. I think they DO taste like cotton candy! I haven't seen them sold around here in awhile. Would like to find some. Also, I had no idea Kite Hill had yogurt tubes. NEED.

Also just a note re: the comment about the bodybuilder who died. She had a rare disorder that prevented her body from breaking down protein. It wasn't caused by the protein intake. And likely, she was consuming animal protein powders, which can contain upwards 60-80 grams of protein per serving, which is CRAZY. Vegan protein supplements rarely go over 30 grams per serving, and that high end is restricted to the SPORT products designed for athletes. But the protein milk by Silk really doesn't have that much extra protein. I take protein powders and products post-run, and I still range around around 10-15% protein daily, which is pretty normal for a vegan athlete. ANYWAY, SORRY....I just nerd out on protein! Haha. Supplements definitely aren't a necessity though! They're probably a bit overrated, but I feel they help with muscle recovery, post-workout.

I've seen those grapes, but have never tried them! What do you think? Are they super sweet?

I wonder if you could use the soy milk in your smoothies, too? I hate when I pick up the wrong item! Speaking of smoothies - this one sounds delicious! I think a slow sip is better, as it fills you longer.

They are VERY hard to find here too, that's why I grabbed them… I didn't know if I'd see them again!

Thank you! Oh you have to try them, they are so good!

Haha, thanks Beverlee! It always makes me happy to hear that you are enjoying them :) I hadn't heard about her. I'm still annoyed that I bought the protein milk by accident because I thought I had scored a great deal on the creamer. I still don't know how to describe those grapes, they are so interesting though!

I know, I love new fruits and veggies!

The grapes are so interesting! I was surprised when I had the first one, I didn't know what to think! I was so disappointed when I didn't find the greek yogurt but I saw the tubes and got so excited, especially since it was strawberry banana!

Haha thanks for the info! I'm not super concerned about protein and wasn't concerned about excess protein, I was just annoyed I grabbed the wrong product! :)

I think I'm going to do a little review in my fun friday post but they are so weird! I think they are good but I can't eat a ton of them at a time.

I'll definitely use the milk in smoothies or even in cereal. I won't waste it, but now I have to go get creamer, haha.

I have a love/hate relationship with smoothies. When I crave them I really want them but I don't crave them often. And I find them super filling. Two bananas would have been more than enough.

I should have clarified in my post to any who misunderstood. I wasn't concerned about the amount of protein in Silk being extreme. I know there's a difference between animal & plant protein. Just curious as to how much more protein this version has over regular Silk. Sorry you have to go back to get creamer, Sarah! So annoying :(

Oh no, no worries at all! :) I know what you meant :D I'll double check the protein content when I get home. I can't imagine it's anything crazy. I'll use it in smoothies and cereal so it doesn't go to waste but I just thought it was funny that I literally had no idea that I had gotten it until I took the picture!

So funny when you go to take a pic of something for the blog and realize it isnt what you thought. Happened to me many times.

There are two types of Tofutti, I see you bought the one with the yellow label. I cant figure out what the difference is between the two types.

I would have downed that smoothie in seconds!

Beautiful Bento Box.

3 bananas!!! Yeah that would be a filling smoothie! XD And a very pretty one too.

I've heard so many good things about those cotton candy grapes, but they are so expensive. I'm afraid I might not like them- or worse, they will be awesome and I have to share XD

It is crazy how much of a price drop there already is with Whole Foods! I got a WHOLE container of Califia milk the other day. Clearly I wasn't the only one because the only ones left were about 7 cartons of toasted coconut (which was still awesome) I also noticed that Daiya went up a buck everywhere in my area except for Whole Foods.... very suspicious.

This took me forever to figure out too. The blue label has hydrogenated oils. I guess to sell at Whole Foods they had to change the recipe and they use palm oil with the yellow label. I can't taste a difference between the two.

Sarah said...

Haha right!? I was like noooo! I just got some cereal though so I'll use it.

Yup, what Jennifer said. The yellow label has no hydrogenated oils. It's the only one I see in my stores now.

The smoothie was good but so filling. And thanks!

I see people on youtube making smoothies with 5 bananas so I'm like ok I can probably do 3. Nope. Definitely going to cut that down by a bit :)

The grapes were on sale for $3.49/lb so I decided to splurge on a small bag! They are definitely strange. They are good but VERY sweet. I wish I would have frozen some, that probably would have been amazing!

I know, I noticed it too! It all seems very weird but I guess we'll just have to see what happens in the future.
